History of King Legal Group

Robert King Founds the Firm in 1981

Following a stint working with the law firm of his uncle, who was a renowned lawyer, litigator, and community leader in Steubenville, Ohio, the law firm’s founding partner, Robert W. King, decided to return to Westmoreland County which the King family has called home for generations.  In 1981, Rob established the law firm in Greensburg and quickly established himself as one of the premier litigators in Westmoreland County and a highly respected adversary among his peers.  Over more than four decades, Rob has tried countless jury and non-jury trials and built a strong reputation of success and as a leader in the legal community.  For his skill in the courtroom, Rob was elected by his peers as a member of the prestigious Westmoreland Academy of Trial Lawyers in 1994.

In 1997, Melissa Guiddy joined the law firm as a partner and continued the law firm’s reputation as a renowned litigation firm.  She, too, was elected to the Westmoreland Academy of Trial Lawyers during her time with the law firm.  She was a partner of the firm until she was honored to be appointed by the Westmoreland County Commissioners as the County Solicitor in 2017 to serve as the primary attorney for the county where she still serves in that position.

Brad King Joins the Firm

In 2009, Rob and Melissa were joined in the law firm by Rob’s son, Bradley A. King, who has built on the firm’s long history of success in the courtroom.  Brad has acted as lead trial counsel in numerous jury and non-jury trials throughout Pennsylvania.  He has been recognized by his peers and Judges for his expertise and exceptional skill in the courtroom as well, enhancing the law firm’s reputation as one of the best litigation law firms in the area.  Rob and Brad continue to handle litigation in all practice areas of the firm as well as advising and assisting clients in non-litigation matters involving Wills and estate planning, estate administration, contracts, real estate transactions, and business law and commercial transactions.  Rob and Brad’s reputations as vigorous advocates for our clients is reflected by the fact that the large majority of our clients are either repeat clients or have been referred to us by other clients and by other attorneys in the area, including many attorneys against whom Rob and Brad have litigated cases.

In addition to Brad, Rob’s eldest son, Andrew King, and his son-in-law hold law degrees from Northwestern University and the University of Wyoming.  The legal field has become a family passion and endeavor, which combines a wealth of legal knowledge and three generations of legal experience among the King family members.  In 2023, the law firm welcomed Tanner Yawitz as an associate attorney to continue the firm’s growth into the next generation of the legal field.  Throughout law school, Tanner focused his education on trial advocacy and attained virtually every accolade and honor awarded to the most exceptional graduating law student in trial advocacy, oral argument, and legal writing.  He also gained invaluable practical legal experience working for multiple state and federal judges during that time before joining the law firm.
